Since the 2013 San Francisco America's Cup which was contested on 72 ft foiling sailing catamarans, the Americas cup has been the pinnacle of foiling aquatic sports. Successive Americas Cup series have been fought "on the foil' with catamarans and most recently foiling monohulls. The level of technology is breathtaking and challenges every marine and sailing convention.

The competition is set to next contested on Auckland Harbour, New Zealand with the local team innovating to recently launch and test a foiling chase boat which can sustain 30 knots for hours on end. No doubt the use of modern computer controlled hydrofoil technology will make it comfortable, fuel efficient if not appearing a little precarious.
