Prone Foil Surfing Beginners Perspective 10 - Foot Position
Tue 02 Nov 2021Author: John Nayler
We've come so far and this video as part of the final in the beginner series talks about foot position. You committed, found yourself in the surf, caught a wave and now it's time to stand up.
Much more sensitive than surfboards, a foot places left or right of where it should be is going to be a fail straight away, and the foil will engage in a left or right turn and throwing you off.
Similarly putting your front foot too far forward and the nose will bury, or worse still too far back and the foil's lift will be too much and the board will launch skyward.
Answer: As a beginner you are going to have to put your feet in exactly the right place. Later on, your skill will probably make it possible to recover from bad foot placement, but for now, find the right place on the board for your feet and aim for that every single time!
After 30 hours of learning to prone foil surf, I recorded a few things that I have learned along the way.
